Biography: Salini Rengganis Iedewa

  • Surfing

Dear Summer,

Here’s a little story about my life, which I would like to share with you :-)

My full name is Salini Rengganis Iedewa. My dad’s name is Wied Iedewa and he is one of the best Dad’s that a girl could ask for, especially since unfortunately my mother hasn’t been around since I was really young.

I was born in Yogyakarta on August 13, 1998. When I was just 3 days old, my parents took me to Jakarta. I spent my childhood in Jakarta in a small area called Bintari Jaya, and Dad often took me playing at Gelanggang Samudera Ancol almost every week! :-)

When I turned five Dad took me to a small town called Pacitan in East Java. I went to school at Sekolah Dasar Negeri (Elementary School) Baleharjo I. There weren’t a lot of students but they are all nice, the teacher too! I heard that this was actually the school that President SBY attended. He has even come to visit the school :-)

When  I was in the  1st Grade, I went Jogging with Dad on the beach every afternoon. On Sunday, I usually played in water with Dad. One day, while I was jogging, I saw some people holding surfboards, and I asked Dad, “Dad, can I play that thing?” And guess what? Dad agreed :-) A week later, Dad began to teach me how to surf. Dad did such a great job at doing his very best, in any way that he could think of, to find more information about surfing and he taught me really well. Ever since then I have spend most of my days learning how to surf :-)

My favorite surf spots now are Watukarung beach and Srau beach in Pacitan. It makes me so excited to surf here because these beaches are clean and they have big waves, even though they have lots of rocks too :-)

Some of the awards that I have won in surfing so far are: first place winner at every contest held in Pacitan (Pacitan Hidden Point I, Pacitan Hidden Point II and Pacitan Hidden Point III), and awards from the local government as a young kid that brings good name to Pacitan through sport. I have also joined the Surfing School held by Surfer Girl in Bali when I was 7. Beside awards in surfing, I have also won awards in tourism as promotion model of Pulau Bidadari Kepulauan Seribu in 2007, and awards as first winner in singing and girl scouts.

I want to be a Pro surfer and a model, and participate in saving nature from irresponsible hands.

Summer, I am grateful and so very happy to be a Surfer Girl ambassador and be a part of the Surfer Girl family.

Please send my warmest regards to all the Crew there :-)

Love,

Salini.
