GUS continued to support this year surf competition season by providing portable toilet and bin. For every outdoor activity, we must keep the surrounding environment clean, right?
GUS portable toilet stood by in Keramas on 28th of February 2010 for Rusty Gromfest, followed by the next Rusty Gromfest in Pererenan on 28th of March 2010.
On 5th of February 2010, GUS School Project was invited by Novotel Hotel, Nusa Dua, to give short workshop to their staff on how to recycle paper.
GUS did the same workshop on 10th of March 2010 to the 1st-6th grade students of Dyatmika School, and the day before, was teaching those children an education on environment through presentation and games. This event was also supported by several other organizations.
In some other opportunities, GUS accepted invitation from the Government such as on Discussion and Socialization on Environment in the Regional Head Candidates’ Mission and Vision on 10th of February 2010. This event was also followed by Government agencies, Foundations and Media. As well as invitation on 23rd of February 2010 on Discussion to celebrate Rubbish Day, which is now still under planning.
Temesi Project Update
Recently, Temesi Waste Management Facility was visited by 2 international visitors. The first one was on March 8th, Naomi Hori, a Visiting Researcher from Kitakyushu Initiative for a Clean Environment, Japan Institute for Global Environmental, which is a representative from APFED Showcase Project of Temesi Facility in 2008.
Then on March 22, there was Mr Christian Zurbrugg, an expert on waste from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. This is a good opportunity for Temesi Facility to learn and share experiences with them. Temesi Facility is open to everybody who wishes to see directly what happens to waste on the Landfill Disposal (Tempat Pembuangan Akhir).
