Hi Girls^^ Plastic has become a big concern for the people all over the world with so many negative effects to the Earth but still its very difficult to find material to replace plastic.

Large amount of plastic waste in the world create big problem to environment. Some of the negative effects of plastic are:

1. Plastic bags cause over 100,000 sea turtle and other marine animal deaths every year when animals mistaken them for food
2. The manufacture of plastic bags add tons of carbon emissions into the air annually
3. Between 500 billion and 1 trillion plastic bags are used worldwide each year
4. Approximately 60 – 100 million barrels of oil are required to make the world’s plastic bags each year
5. Most plastic bags take over 400 years even to 1000 years to biodegrade

Research has been done on biodegradable plastics that break down with exposure to sunlight (e.g. Ultra violet) bacteria and enzymes. Starch powder has been mixed with plastic as a filler to allow it to degrade more easily, but it still does not lead to complete breakdown of the plastic.

Woow it’s very difficult indeed to solve the problem with plastic. So girls, I guess we can help planet Earth by doing something really simple in your daily life and change some of the bad habits related to plastic usage. These are some easy ways that you can do:

1. Bring your own bag or you can get your own recycle bag at Surfer Girl stores to the market when you doing your grocery
2. Decrease beverage consumption in bottles or plastic glass and bring your own cup instead
3. Say no to single use plastic bag. Use the plastic that you have over and over again until it cannot be use again to reduce the amount of plastic waste
