Early on Monday morning on the 8^th of February 2010, the Surfer Girl family looked to the skies with slight concern as the clouds gathered and rain started pouring down.

It was the day of the annual Surfer Girl staff gathering event, as part of the Surfer Girl 12^th anniversary celebrations, and with the selected venue being open air the bad weather seemed as though it may have a different plan for the evening.

However, bad weather is never an excuse to let the fun times stop rolling, especially at Surfer Girl and preparations went on as normal.

The stage was set, the audience tents were made to accommodate the entire Surfer Girl family, the food was ready and the music was set to rock the party all night long!

4pm signaled kick off time and by the time the Surfer Girl family arrived the set up team had transformed the garden behind the Dewi Sri office into a lavish setting fit for a real CELEBRATION!!

And celebrate we did! Every member of staff was lucky enough to win a door prize, kindly supported by our generous sponsors, then there was just enough time to grab some yummy food from the BBQ and an ice cream before the real fun got started with the two main forms of entertainment; the Surfer Girl staff talent quest 2010 and the FINAL round of the Surfer Girl product knowledge competition 2009 in which the winner would receive a ticket to a secret location overseas!

There were 12 performances scheduled to appear on stage from traditional Balinese dance, karaoke and pom-pom boys to lip sync and dance, reading poems, cheerleading, modern dance and comical short plays; with a line up like that we knew we were in for a special treat even while the ‘talent’ (consisting entirely of Surfer Girl staff members) got ready back stage. We weren’t disappointed, the clapping and cheers as the crowd showed their appreciation could be heard across the road and there were smiles all around.

With almost every single member of staff participating and with hidden talents good enough to make even the biggest of super stars green with envy there is no denying that the Surfer Girl family is TALENTED indeed

Cutting of the CAKE!

Well known for being progressive, unique, humorous and most importantly fun the Surfer Girl family decided this year to shy away from the classic ‘Happy Birthday to you’ song for the cutting of the cake.

Instead “I got a feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas echoed through the back garden of the Dewi Sri office as the entire team burst into song and dance!!

How was this so well coordinated you may ask? Well with lyrics, complete with MP3 of the song emailed through to all staff weeks before the event took place gave everyone a chance to learn the new ‘tailored’ lyrics and tune. Members of staff even went as far to choreograph a dance together:

Surfer Girl Product Knowledge Competition FINAL ROUND!!!

While the judges of the talent quest got busy deciding who the winners would be it was time for the grand final of the monthly Surfer Girl product knowledge competition to take place.

These product knowledge competitions had been run throughout the year in 2009 every month with representatives from all stores winning points by being able to answer questions related to products in our stores as fast & accurately as possible; this was the moment for the finalists to battle it out for the grand prize of a trip overseas!!

The final ended up being a close one with representatives Tiwi (Surfer Girl Legian) and Ayu Wiratni (Roxy Jl. Legian) head to head right up until the final questions. In the end it came down to 2 questions to decide the winner and after an awesome effort by both girls it was Tiwi that was the winner of the competition.

As the winner Tiwi was presented with a return ticket for 2 persons and 2 nights stay in …Singapore: congratulations Tiwi!!

It was then time to announce the winners of the talent quest and much to everyones delight the judges awarded prizes to the following teams:

With smiles all around, an atmosphere that could have rivaled the biggest of events, tummies full of yummy food and drink and newly won prizes in tow the Surfer Girl family ended the night with further dancing and celebration before heading home.
