If in February, Valentines is celebrated by most people around the world, this March, White Day is more popular among Japanese people, as well as some Taiwanese and Korean people too.
This special day is celebrated exactly one month after Valentine’s Day, which falls on the 14thof March every year.
White Day was introduced in Japan in the 1980s when the Japanese National Confectionary Industry Association launched a campaign where men were given a chance to return the favor to those who gave them gifts on Valentine’s Day. At that time, men gave marshmallows to their female friends as return gifts, but over the years these gifts have grown into flowers, chocolates, clothing, and even jewelry.
The name White was chosen because it is a symbol of purity and sincerity, and also to present the color of sugar. Therefore, the color of the chocolate the men give to their female friends is in the color white
So girls, how many chocolates do you expect to receive this White Day?
