Hi Girls^^ today we celebrating World Environment Day (WED). The special day founded by UNEP (United Nation Environment Program) in 1972. The day to stimulate the awareness to environment and do the positive actions to help planet Earth that lately been hurt really bad because of the unfortunate accidents happen all over the world.

Many Species. One Planet. One Future. is the theme for this year and the message focusing on the importance to appreciate the rich diversity of species and ecosystem which is also the theme of UN International Year of Diversity. Pretty awesome theme considers that most of the people in big industry countries start to forget and ignore the beauty of the Earth and keep exploit the mother Earth for their own benefits.

The big celebration of WED 2010 is taking place in Kigali, Rwanda known as the cleanest city in Africa. With ‘land of thousand hills’ as nickname this cool city moved one step forward by introducing a ban on plastic bags, nationwide environmental clean-up campaigns and restoration of previously degraded natural rainforest as part of the chimpanzee conservation program woooaahhh super awesome!!!

The celebration in Kigali is one from thousand events taking place all over the world. Positive actions such as tree-planting, community clean ups, car-free days, biodiversity photo competitions, bird-watching trips, environment exhibitions, green petitions and nationwide green campaigns are some of many things going on during WED. Those actions can be your inspiration of how you want to celebrate WED in your community
