Hi Girls^^ yesterday me, Niki and Grinder attended a super cool event at the mall while we doing our shopping at Hypermart. An event supported by four environment organizations GUS, EcoBali, Balifokus and Bali Cantik Tanpa Plastik to rock the Bali Free Plastic campaign and ask the people to bring their own bag when they do their shopping. This will help to reduce the use of plastic bag and reduce the amount of plastic waste.

Bali produces 5000 tons of rubbish every single day and 15% of the rubbish is plastic waste. It’s like 600 to 750 tons per day or around 167-trucks/ day. Woow it is a really big number girls.

Plastic bag that we use only for 5-15 minutes needs 500-1000 years to biodegrade. Many plastic wastes around the beach and get stuck around the reef affect the image of Balinese tourism.

The event was pretty packed with people who want to do their grocery shopping and some of our friends from Surfer Girl did their No Plastic campaign and brought one of the coolest new collection from Surfer Girl “I Love Bali Bag”. It will be your new best friend because it is so practice and easy to bring anywhere you go coz you can fold it into a wallet to replace the need of plastic bag. The people also participated in signing the No Plastic banner, took picture with special environment friendly bag, free shopping bag from GUS and the most awesome time when Jerink, one of the Superman is Dead band member played his acoustic guitar and asked the people to join the no plastic campaign :-)

This is a really cool event and we had a super great time. So girls, don’t forget to bring your own shopping bag for your next grocery shopping ok? :-D
